Kassandra Neranjan (she/her) is an Associate Lawyer at Landings LLP and practices in all areas of immigration and refugee law. She represents clients at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada and in Federal Court. Kassandra has experience in complex refugee matters pertaining to security issues, inadmissibility, and gender-based violence and persecution. Kassandra also has a passion for systemic litigation cases such as class actions and test cases to advance refugee law in Canada. She is empaneled with Legal Aid Ontario.
Prior to her work at Landings LLP, Kassandra obtained her JD and BCL at McGill University Faculty of Law, studying both Common and Civil Law. She concentrated her studies in Public International Law, Constitutional Law, and Administrative Law. She was Co-Editor-in-Chief of Inter Gentes: The McGill Journal of International Law and Legal Pluralism and Co-President of the Women of Colour Collective.
Kassandra completed her articles at Amnesty International Canada. There, she worked on complex strategic litigation for cases at the nexus of Canadian Constitutional Law and International Human Rights Law.
Kassandra regularly volunteers with Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights (CLAIHR). She is also active in research and academia. She has authored academic works and conducted original primary field research and reports pertaining to Rohingya women and girl refugees, among several other subject areas.
Kassandra aims to utilize her knowledge in gender relations and global affairs to provide nuanced, empathetic, and meaningful representation to her clients.
Kassandra is fluent in English, and conversational French and Tamil.
